Lemonjellos travel mug
I was on the fence about bringing my beloved travel mug from Lemonjellos and after much debate, I decided to put it into storage. Andrew saw me packing it away and goes, “Are you suuure?” I’m glad he made me change my mind! We’ve had some cold, wet, early mornings and it’s great to have a hot drink to warm you up. I love this particular travel mug too because it fits in my water bottle cage and the top is solid- you don’t have to worry about it leaking in your bag or breaking if you drop it.

Andrew’s stool from Sudan.
Another thing we weren’t planning to bring but packed last-minute. It’s nice to have something to sit on (“sit-upon” as we like to call them) at night while we’re cooking/eating supper. A piece of plastic will do but Andrew’s African stool is a nice luxury.

The Messermeister
We received the small “messermeister” as a wedding gift and we understand why the person who have us the gift said it was their favorite knife. I figured we would just use our leathermans to chop food, but it’s nice to have a designated kitchen knife. It’s cuts bread, tomatoes, cheese, everything great. It’s very sharp- and I think everyone in the group has been “bitten” by the Messermeister at least once!

The Aeropress
Just because we’re roughing it doesn’t mean we’re going without coffee :) The Aeropress not only makes a good cup of coffee, it is easy to clean while camping. We have a reusable metal filter too that I’d recommend.

Things I wish I would have brought:

Hammock
Andrew has a very small Eno hammock that I got him for Christmas a few years back that would have been nice to have a few times (easy to say when you’re not carrying it!) But when you rarely get to sit on a couch or in a chair, a hammock would be a nice comfort.

More memory cards for my camera.
I didn’t bring a laptop on this trip (the iPad with keyboard have been great). Devin has been nice enough to just let me transfer the data to my portable hard drives, but a couple of more cards would have been nice. I’ve looked into buying some here but they are about three times the price. Yikes.
